Finding your place
How could this benefit my child?
The programme offers opportunities to practise independence, teamwork, problem-solving and practical skills through a regular day outside. Every child’s experience is different.
Which day can my child attend?
New families start with a regular Tuesday or Thursday session. Tell us your preferred day; the team confirms arrangements and availability.
Can my child attend casually?
The source describes a term commitment for the one-day school, rather than casual sessions. Future holiday programmes are a separate offering.
Can I stay with my child?
The programme is designed as a drop-off day. Talk with the team about settling in, support needs or volunteering.
How do we enrol?
Submit an expression of interest. The team checks fit and availability, offers a place or a waitlist position, and confirms the next steps. The current form only creates sample records.
Is financial support available?
Falia Funds is proposed and not yet open. Contact the team to discuss support; funding cannot be guaranteed.
Learning and the day
What happens during a session?
Morning hui, optional Discovery Basics, free play, kai, an optional specialist workshop and afternoon hui form the day’s rhythm.
Are activities compulsory?
The source requires the start and end hui for safety. Discovery Basics and specialist workshops are encouraged but optional.
Are there tests or grades?
No tests or grades are described in the programme. Guides support practical learning, interests and developing confidence.
How does this fit alongside school?
Speak with your child’s school before arranging a regular day away. Approval and attendance recording need to be confirmed for your situation.
Will my child miss important learning?
The programme complements wider learning through practical literacy, maths and science. Discuss your child’s learning needs and school timetable with their teacher.
What is the adult-to-child ratio?
The current supervision ratio and any age-group limits are being confirmed. Places are shown on the enquiry page; staffing is reviewed separately.
Practical care
What are the hours?
The source lists 10:30am–4pm in Terms 1 and 4, and 10am–3:30pm in Terms 2 and 3. Check the confirmed term arrangements before attending.
Is there transport?
A community shuttle is described, subject to seats and availability. The timetable and stops need confirmation. Requesting a seat does not reserve one.
What happens in bad weather?
Families prepare for outdoor conditions. The team may change arrangements or cancel when conditions make a session unsafe. Current notice and refund terms need review.
What should my child bring?
Lunch and snacks, a refillable bottle, a full change of clothes, rainwear and seasonal layers. Name everything.
Are there toilets?
The source’s later FAQ describes a composting toilet and handwashing system. Earlier facility details differ, so the current arrangements need confirmation.
How do I contact the team?
Use email for general enquiries. Session-day and urgent contact instructions will be confirmed directly with enrolled families.
When do the terms run?
The usual structure is eight weeks in Terms 1 and 4 and six weeks in Terms 2 and 3. The source specifically says Term 3, 2026 will not run. See Fees & dates for the draft 2026 calendar.
